Rust Rock Skins (Oct 2026): Gold Rock, Shard of True Ice and the $3 Shelf, Priced

Pinned Oct 26, 2026

Rock skins in Rust run from 73 cents to about $110. On 18 October 2026 the Gold Rock was the dearest, at a $112.52 median sale over 90 days on Skinport, and the Shard of True Ice was the most traded, with 360 sales in those 90 days at a $45.01 median. Below them sits a long, cheap shelf: 59 of the 74 rock skins that sold in that period had a median under $3, and the cheapest listing was $0.73. On 26 October 2026 the Gold Rock's 90-day median was $112.15 and the Shard of True Ice's $44.64 on 374 sales, so the 18 October figures below still hold, though single listings move daily.

The rock is the first thing you hold after every death, which is why players skin it at all. That makes the choice simple. If you want the status rock, it is the Gold Rock or the Shard of True Ice, and you pay for it. If you want a rock that looks like something other than a rock, two or three dollars buys a hamster, a seal or a fish with a real market behind it. Every number on this sheet comes from Skinport's open price data on the morning of 18 October 2026.

Gold Rock, $100–113. The rock that everyone recognises and almost nobody sells cheaply. Three were listed, from $108.76; 14 sold in 30 days at a $109.54 median and two in the last seven days at $100.58. For a rock, that is a lot of money, and it holds: the 90-day median of $112.52 sits close to the 30-day one. For the skins that cost ten times as much, see the most expensive Rust skins.

Shard of True Ice, $41–45. The real market among rock skins: 146 sales in 30 days, 40 in the last seven, at medians between $43.84 and $45.01, and only five listed from $41.00. If you want a premium rock that you can sell again within days, this is it. At $41.00 the cheapest ask was below every recent median.

Fresh Brain, Frozen Turkey and Meteorite, $11–15. The mid-tier. All three sold fewer than 25 times in 90 days, and Meteorite only three, so their asks above the medians are what the few holders want, not what the market has paid.

The two-to-four-dollar shelf

Most players who skin their rock land here, and the busiest items are animals. Hamster Rock was the second-most traded rock of all: 74 sales in 90 days and 39 in 30, at about $3, with 25 listed from $2.73. Harbor Seal Rock sold 64 times at a $3.43 median and had the deepest supply on the shelf, 27 listed from $2.97, below its own median. Fish Rock (40 sales, $3.45) and Pug Rock (35 sales, $3.52) follow. Among the non-animal designs, Deep Ruby Rock (53 sales, $2.21) and North Rock (49 sales, $2.13) are the liquid picks.

On this shelf the asks and medians mostly agree within about a dollar, so buy at the ask if the look is right. The only caution is the seasonal names: Pumpkin Rock and Mother's Day Rock each sold fewer than 20 times in 90 days, so a single sale can move their price more than the rest.

How Rust rock skins are priced

Column chart of 74 rock skins grouped by 90-day median sale on Skinport to 18 October 2026: 18 under $1, 41 between $1 and $3, 10 between $3 and $10, and 5 at $10 or more.

Skinport listed 74 rock skins on the read date, 1,017 copies in total, and every one of the 74 had sold in the past 90 days: 645 sales in 30 days, 1,921 in 90. The middle of the market is $1 to $3, where 41 of them sit. That is a step up from rifle skins such as the SAR's, most of which sell for under a dollar; a rock is a small item, but players pay a little more to change the one tool they always carry. Other items are ranked on the best Rust skins sheet.

Which rock skins sell fastest

Price and speed are different questions. Over the 30 days to 18 October, the fastest sellers were the Shard of True Ice with 146 sales, then Hamster Rock with 39, Amethyst Geode Rock with 20, and Harbor Seal Rock and Bee Rock with 18 each. Amethyst Geode Rock is the one to note: 13 listed from $1.25 and a $1.31 median, so it is a one-dollar rock that people are actively buying. Bee Rock, at $1.28 median, is in the same position.

At the other end, a few rocks with respectable prices barely trade. Meteorite sold three times in 90 days and My Only Friend three, so anyone listing them sets the price by waiting. If you think you might sell a rock later, the fast list above is the shortlist.

The cheapest rock skins

Sixteen rock skins had a cheapest ask under a dollar. The lowest were Santa's Cookie Sack at $0.73 (12 sales in 90 days at $0.72), Jade Rock at $0.80 (15 sales at $0.89), Gravel Rock at $0.81 and Chocolate Egg at $0.83. All are fair at the ask; none will resell for much more. As on every sub-dollar item, a market's minimum or flat fee can cost more than the difference between two skins, so if you are buying cheap rocks, buy them in one order.

Edge cases

  • Meteorite and Meteorite Rock are different skins. Meteorite had a $11.26 90-day median from three sales; Meteorite Rock sold 11 times at $1.53. Check the exact name before paying.
  • Thin top end. Gold Rock had three listings and Meteorite two. One sale or one new listing moves those numbers by several dollars.
  • One market. These are Skinport figures. Steam Market prices include Steam's fees and pay out only to a Steam Wallet, so the same rock shows a different price there.
  • No gamble route. This sheet never covers case-opening or skin-betting sites. Buy the rock you want or keep the default.

Where to buy rock skins

For a rock under $5, pick the look and buy it at the ask on any market with Rust listings. For the Gold Rock or Shard of True Ice, compare two markets and offer near the median. Cash markets: Skinport, DMarket, SkinBaron, Lis-Skins. Trade sites: Tradeit, SkinSwap, Swap.gg. Several of these links can pay this sheet a commission; the prices came first. Fees on each market are laid out on the buy Rust skins sheet.
