A $1.99 skin is worth what the market says on the day you read it.

Rust skins start as workshop drawings, sell in the item store for a week, and then get re-priced by the Steam Community Market and seven cash marketplaces forever. Scrapsheet pins all of it to one wall — store price, Steam's 15% cut, every marketplace fee, and price bands with the date they were read.

What this sheet is for

Rust skins are cheap to buy and confusing to price, because three different systems set the number. Facepunch sells about twelve workshop skins a week for $1.49–$3.49 and then removes most of them; Valve's Community Market re-prices them with a 15% cut baked in and pays only wallet funds; and third-party marketplaces undercut Steam by charging 2–10% and paying real money. A player who wants to buy a door skin, sell an old AK, or understand why a 2017 $1.99 item lists for over $300 has to read all three.

We read them so you don't. The buy-and-sell sheet prices one identical item through every market with each fee dated and sourced. The best skins by item sheet lists what is actually worth buying, with bands. The sheets below cover the store rotation, the workshop, free skins, trading sites, and the items players search for most.

Rules of the yard

Every number carries the date it was read and the page it came from; bands, never live quotes, because this is a static site and a live ticker on a static site is a lie. Anything we could not verify is labelled as such rather than rounded into a fact. We are not affiliated with Facepunch Studios or Valve. Some marketplace links pay us a commission, disclosed next to each one, and the fee figures they sit beside are the marketplaces' own published rates — a commission cannot move them. We may cover case-opening and skin-gambling sites, but we never link to scams.

Questions off the sheet

Where is the cheapest place to buy Rust skins?
For a skin that is still in the weekly item store, the store itself: $1.49–$3.49 per item at the 3 Sep 2026 rotation, with no fee on top. For anything that has left the store, third-party cash marketplaces usually undercut the Steam Community Market because Steam bakes a 15% cut into what sellers must charge; our buy-and-sell sheet prices the same item across each market on one date.
Can you sell Rust skins for real money?
Yes, but only through third-party marketplaces — Steam pays you in wallet funds that never leave Steam. Skinport (8% seller fee, read 9 Sep 2026), DMarket, SkinSwap, Tradeit, Swap.gg and Lis-Skins all accept Rust items and pay out to PayPal, bank or crypto. The item must be tradable: store purchases carry a 7-day lock and Twitch-drop skins are never tradable.
When does the Rust item store rotate?
Every Thursday. Facepunch swaps in roughly 12 community workshop skins per week (12 items in the 3 Sep 2026 rotation, $1.49–$3.49 each), and most of the previous week's items leave the store for good. Facepunch has said skins are removed once they have 'been around for a long time or have made too much money' — which is why old store items become the expensive ones.
Are free Rust skins real?
Two kinds are real: Steam playtime drops (Facepunch set the grant at 720 minutes played, at most once per day, per Garry Newman in 2018) and Twitch Drops during announced rounds. Both are worth cents to a few dollars and Twitch-drop skins cannot be traded or sold. Anything promising 'free Rust skins' for a deposit, a code or a case is a gambling funnel, not a free skin.
Is this site affiliated with Facepunch or Valve?
No. Scrapsheet is an independent price sheet. Rust and its item images belong to Facepunch Studios; the Steam Community Market belongs to Valve. We earn a commission from some marketplace links, disclosed next to each one, and it never changes a fee figure — those are the marketplaces' own published rates with a read-date.
