Rust Hazmat Suit Skins: Only One Is Tradable, and Here Is What the Rest Actually Are

Rust Hazmat Suit Skins: Only One Is Tradable, and Here Is What the Rest Actually Are

There is exactly one hazmat suit skin in Rust that you can buy from another player: the Spacesuit, a $9.99 store item from 1 October 2020 that listed at $15.00 on the Steam Community Market with 48 sellers on 9 September 2026. Every other hazmat-suit skin — Nomad Outfit, Arctic Pack, Abyss Pack, Lumberjack Pack, Frontiersman Pack, Krieg, Pilot, the KICK drop — is either a permanent-store pack that Facepunch sells directly and that "holds no resale monetary value," or a drop that was never tradable.

That fact is missing from nearly every "best Rust hazmat skins" list, which is why this sheet exists. The buy-and-sell sheet covers where the Spacesuit is cheapest; this page covers what the rest are and how to get the look without a market.

The hazmat suit item, and why skins for it are rare

The hazmat suit is the one garment almost every Rust player wears for hours — it is the radiation answer, the early-wipe armour and the default silhouette on any server. A skin for it is seen more than any weapon skin. Facepunch has used that visibility differently from the way it uses weapons: instead of a weekly stream of workshop suits at $1.49–$3.49, it has released a handful of first-party suit packs at $9.99–$12.99 through the item store's permanent section, plus event drops. The tracker we read on 9 September 2026 typed nine skins as "Hazmat Suit"; one was tradable and marketable with a live price.

The tradable one: Spacesuit

Spacesuit: $9.99 in the item store on 1 October 2020; 6,267 copies counted; $15.00 lowest Steam listing with 48 sellers on 9 September 2026; all-time high $34.00 on 27 January 2021.

The Spacesuit was sold in the item store at $9.99 from 1 October 2020, and the tracker counts 6,267 copies. On the read date it listed at $15.00 with 48 sellers, against an all-time-high median of $34.00 on 27 January 2021. It carries the standard store-item locks — seven days before it can be traded or listed after purchase — and after that it is an ordinary marketable item you can sell for cash on any marketplace that lists Rust. As a hazmat skin it is the only choice, so the price is really a price for "not the default suit"; expect it to hold its band as long as Facepunch keeps suit skins first-party.

The permanent-store packs: Nomad, Arctic, Abyss, Lumberjack, Frontiersman

Facepunch's permanent store launched on 18 November 2021 with the Nomad hazmat as one of five launch items, and the announcement was explicit: items sold there "will not be able to be resold on the Steam marketplace and hold no resale monetary value, nor can these items be traded on Steam." The suit packs that followed use the same model. Read on the tracker on 9 September 2026:

  • Nomad Outfit — $9.99, added 18 November 2021, 18,786 copies counted. Permanent, non-tradable.
  • Arctic Pack — $12.99, 3 February 2022, 34,413 copies. Permanent, non-tradable.
  • Lumberjack Pack — $12.99, 29 September 2022, 9,511 copies. Permanent, non-tradable.
  • Abyss Pack — $12.99, 29 June 2023, 9,403 copies. Permanent, non-tradable.
  • Frontiersman Pack — $9.99, 30 September 2024, 6,549 copies. Permanent, non-tradable.
  • Krieg Hazmat and Pilot Suit — first-party suits added 30 October 2025 and 4 August 2025; permanent, no market presence.

These are purchases, not assets. They are also, for most players, the right answer: the Arctic Pack's 34,413 copies against the Spacesuit's 6,267 says the market has voted for a $12.99 suit it can never resell over a $15 suit it can. Nothing on the buy-and-sell sheet applies to them — no marketplace can list them, and a "cheap Arctic hazmat" on a trade site is not the item.

The drops: KICK Hazmat and the Twitch suits

The KICK Hazmat, added 6 November 2025 with 20,155 copies, is typed as a drop and is neither marketable nor tradable — the same rule Facepunch applies to Charitable Rust, Trust in Rust and Twitch Drops exclusives. Older Twitch-round hazmats live under the same rule. If a listing anywhere shows one for sale, the item cannot be delivered. The free Rust skins sheet has the drop mechanics.

The workaround: skins for what you wear over the suit

Because the suit itself has one tradable skin, players who want a distinctive silhouette skin the layers instead. Every one of these traded on Steam on the read date, all bought for $0.99–$2.49 in the store originally:

  • Whiteout set — Hoodie $22.00 (254 sellers, store $0.99, March 2021), Pants $11.15, Facemask $22.86, Chestplate $8.81, Helmet $46.12, Vest $24.61, Kilt $21.18, Gloves $9.69, Boots $2.78. The most-owned set in the game (82,460 hoodies counted).
  • Blackout set — Hoodie $26.80, Pants $32.97, Helmet $16.08, Facemask $8.14, Chestplate $6.38, Jacket $10.32, Kilt $18.35, Gloves $15.69, Boots $13.57.
  • Hardsuit set — the budget option: Hoodie $1.04, Pants $1.36, Facemask $1.30, Chestplate $1.18, Helmet $1.37, Vest $1.36, Boots $0.73, all 2023–24 store items.

A Hardsuit or Whiteout set over a plain hazmat reads as a uniform from across a field, costs $8 or $150 depending on the line, and every piece is a marketable asset with a seven-day lock rather than a non-resellable pack. The best Rust skins by item sheet has the rest of the clothing picks.

Why Facepunch keeps suits first-party

The pattern is not an accident. A hazmat suit skin changes the silhouette every player on the server sees more than any other cosmetic, and Facepunch has chosen to sell those as $9.99–$12.99 first-party packs rather than $1.49–$3.49 workshop rotations — the same logic as the permanent store's launch post in November 2021, which framed permanent items as a way to ship "smaller cosmetic ideas" outside the monthly update. For buyers it means suit skins are a purchase with a fixed price and no aftermarket; for the one exception, the Spacesuit, it means a fixed supply of 6,267 copies against a player base that keeps growing, which is why its band has held between $10 and $34 for five years. If Facepunch ever moves suits to workshop rotations the Spacesuit's premium goes with it; until then it is the only suit on any price sheet.

What to check before buying any "hazmat skin"

Open the item's Steam page or its entry on a tracker and read three fields: whether it is marketable, whether it is tradable, and whether it is flagged permanent or drop. On 9 September 2026 only the Spacesuit passed all three among suit skins. A marketplace listing that names any other suit is either mislabelled clothing, an inventory display item, or a scam. The lock still applies to the Spacesuit if you buy it from the store: seven days before you can trade or list it, and the item — not your account — carries the lock.

Questions off the sheet

What is the best hazmat suit skin in Rust?
The Spacesuit is the only hazmat suit skin that trades — $15.00 lowest Steam listing with 48 sellers on 9 September 2026, from a $9.99 store price in October 2020. The Arctic, Abyss, Lumberjack, Frontiersman and Nomad suits are permanent-store packs you buy from Facepunch and cannot resell.
Can you sell hazmat skins in Rust?
Only the Spacesuit. Permanent-store packs "hold no resale monetary value" by Facepunch's design, and drop suits such as the KICK Hazmat are neither marketable nor tradable.
How much is the Arctic hazmat suit in Rust?
$12.99 in the permanent section of the item store, read 9 September 2026. It cannot be bought from another player or sold.
Are Rust console hazmat skins the same?
No. Rust Console Edition has its own store and its skins are account-bound; nothing here transfers to or from console.
