Rust Console Skins (2026): How the Console Store Works, Rust Coin Prices and What Carries Over
Rust console skins are bought with Rust Coins in Rust Console Edition's own Skin Store, or as DLC packs from the PlayStation and Xbox stores. They stay on the console account and platform you bought them on. On the US Xbox store on 13 Oct 2026, Rust Coins cost $4.99 for 500 up to $49.99 for 7,800, and the bigger packs give up to 56% more coins per dollar. Console skins don't come from the PC game, can't be listed on the Steam Community Market, and we found no official way to trade or sell them.
That makes console a different economy from PC Rust, where skins trade freely. This guide covers how the console store works, what coins cost, how the store rotates, what carries between platforms, and why the "sell your console skins" pages you'll find don't describe anything the game supports.
Console skins in one paragraph
Rust Console Edition is published and developed by Double Eleven, separately from Facepunch's PC game, and runs on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its Skin Store opened on 7 October 2021. Skins come in themed collections that you can buy whole or piece by piece, and you inspect each item in 3D before buying. Themed packs, such as the Sunburn Pack and the Storage Box DLC, are sold on the platform stores, and the console site's store section also lists building skins. Everything you own appears in the Locker, the in-game collection screen.
Rust Coins and tier prices
| Pack | Price | Coins per $1 |
|---|---|---|
| 500 Rust Coins | $4.99 | 100 |
| 1,100 Rust Coins | $9.99 | 110 |
| 2,250 Rust Coins | $19.99 | 113 |
| 4,600 Rust Coins | $34.99 | 131 |
| 7,800 Rust Coins | $49.99 | 156 |
The pack ladder rewards buying big. The $49.99 pack gives 156 coins per dollar, against 100 for the $4.99 pack. Xbox's listing adds a rule that matters if you play on both consoles: "Rust Coins can only be redeemed and used on the platform through which they were originally purchased." Coins bought on Xbox stay on Xbox.
What a skin costs in coins depends on its rarity tier. When the store launched, Double Eleven's announcement on Xbox Wire set three tiers by pack: Common at 450 Rust Coins, Rare at 1,000 and Epic at 2,000, with rarity "set by packs and not by each skin individually." It also said buying a full set as a bundle costs less than buying each skin. Those are October 2021 launch prices; we haven't been able to read the current tier prices from outside the game, so treat them as a guide and check the in-game price before you top up. At launch prices, the 2,250-coin pack covered one Epic pack with 250 coins left.
How the console store rotates
At launch, Double Eleven said themes would "typically run on the store for the duration of the monthly wipe, with new sets of items dropping every two weeks," plus occasional one-off packs. Official servers wipe on a fixed schedule, according to the console FAQ: weekly servers every Thursday at 6pm UTC, and monthly servers on the last Thursday of each month at 6pm UTC. The store's monthly rhythm follows those wipes.
So a "Rust console skins this week" list is a snapshot of an in-game screen, and Double Eleven doesn't publish the weekly line-up on its website. What it does publish is the larger drops. Its Dev Blog #55, on 23 September 2026, announced the Storage Box DLC for 24 September, with 16 labelled Large Wood Box skins, and a Halloween event from 15 October to 4 November 2026. It promised "new seasonal skins" and the return of "some past fan favorites." Dev Blog #54 put the 15-item Sunburn Pack on platform stores from 27 August 2026.
Console vs PC skins
On PC, most skins start as community designs on the Steam Workshop, go on sale for a week in Facepunch's item store, and then trade on Steam's Community Market and on third-party sites. Our Rust item store explainer covers that cycle and the 7-day lock before a store skin can be traded. Prices on PC are set by players, which is why a 2017 skin can cost hundreds of dollars today.
Console has none of that machinery. Rust Console Edition isn't sold on Steam, so its skins never appear in a Steam inventory or on the Steam Community Market. Prices are set by the store, not by other players. And the two console platforms are walled off from each other: the console FAQ says moving progress from Xbox to PlayStation, or back, "is not an option," and Xbox's coin listing keeps coins on the platform where you bought them.
Some names overlap. Several items Facepunch sells on PC, such as the Space Station, Shipping Container, Brutalist, Legacy Wood, Brick and Adobe building skins, also appear in the console store under the same names. They're separate purchases on separate platforms: owning one on PC doesn't unlock it on console, and the reverse isn't true either.
Can you trade or sell console skins?
We found no official way. Double Eleven's FAQ, the store pages and the 2021 launch announcement describe buying skins and viewing them in the Locker, and none mentions trading, gifting between players or a marketplace. Because the game isn't on Steam, the Steam market route PC players use doesn't exist, and coins can't even move between your own Xbox and PlayStation accounts.
Be wary of any site claiming to buy or sell Rust console skins. With no in-game trade system, the only thing such a site could take over is your platform account, and handing over a console login puts everything on that account at risk. The same goes for "free console Rust skins" generators; our free Rust skins guide explains the patterns. If you want Rust skins you can resell, that's the PC game, and our buy-and-sell sheet covers its markets and fees.
Edge cases
Coin prices vary by region and platform, and we read only the US Xbox store; PlayStation pack sizes and prices are TBC. Sales on the platform stores can change DLC prices for a few days at a time. Seasonal skins, such as the Halloween items Double Eleven announced for 15 October to 4 November 2026, may return in later years, as Dev Blog #55 promised for "past fan favorites," but there's no published schedule. And a console ban can cost you your skins: the FAQ says bans "are final" and can be temporary or permanent.
