Best AK47 Skins in Rust (2026): Twelve Picks With Dated Steam Prices and Price History

The best AK skin in Rust for most players is still the Tempered AK47: the most-traded AK on this sheet, with 100 Steam Community Market listings from $10.19 and 553 sales in the last 30 days on 20 Oct 2026. The collector's AK is the Glory AK47 at $258.12. The best cheap AK is the Military Camo AK47 at $1.85. Everything else on this sheet is a matter of taste, liquidity and how loud you want to be at eighty metres.
Prices below are Steam lowest listings, which include Valve's fee, read in US dollars on 20 Oct 2026, with the listing count beside each. The 30-day medians, sale counts and highs come from the price history on each item's Steam market page. The same skins often list for less on third-party marketplaces, which the Rust skins buy-and-sell sheet compares.

Steam listed 286 AK47 skins on the read date, so twelve is a shortlist, not a census. The order weighs three things: how well a skin reads in a fight, how easy it is to buy and sell, and whether the price is fair for what it is. Price alone doesn't decide it. "Workshop item" means the skin trades on Steam's market as an accepted Workshop skin; we give a store price and date only where our facts ledger has one.
Each pick
1. Tempered AK47: $9–11

The heat-treated blue-and-bronze Tempered is the AK most players picture, and its market proves it: 553 sales in the last 30 days, more than the other four three-figure and mid-tier picks combined. It sold at a $138.38 median on its first Steam day, 12 February 2016, then spent 2017–2020 around $14–16, spiked to a $31.23 yearly median in 2021, and has slid to $11.86 so far in 2026. That slide is a reason to buy it now, not to avoid it. You get the most famous AK skin in the game for about ten dollars, and with that much volume you can sell it again in minutes.
2. Glory AK47: $255–275

A $1.99 store item from April 2017 that first traded on Steam at $1.95, the Glory AK47 became Rust's benchmark collector skin. Its daily median peaked at $498.97 on 22 January 2021, settled around $250 in 2022–23, and has sat between about $300 and $310 a year since 2024. In play it's a dark rifle with rust-coloured trim, and past twenty metres it looks like most dark rifles. You're paying for scarcity, not presence. At this price about $34 of the listing is Steam's fee, so compare a third-party marketplace's checkout total before you click buy.
3. Alien Red: $150–160
The Alien Red is an AK47 skin despite the name, red-and-black with a worn finish, and it's the busier of the two three-figure AKs: 185 sales in 30 days at a $154.99 median. It went into the item store at $2.49 in February 2017, climbed to a $204.51 daily median in August 2021, and has sat between about $130 and $165 a year since. If you want a three-figure AK that you can actually resell, this one sells far more often than the Glory.
4. AK-47 Victoria: $47–50
Pale silver-blue engraving on a light receiver makes the Victoria the showiest of the mid-tier AKs. Nineteen listings from $47.88 and 57 sales in a month mean it moves, but thinly. Its history is the steadiest on this sheet: from a $3.99 store price in May 2018 to a $100.81 daily high in February 2021, then a yearly median between $47 and $59 every year since 2022. Check the median before you pay the lowest ask.
5. After Death AR: $75–82
The newest skin here and the clearest warning. After Death went into the item store at $2.99 on 24 July 2025, first traded on Steam a week later at a $180.87 median, and hit $351.38 on 2 August 2025, nine days after release. Its yearly median has been $81–94 since. The ornate gold finish is striking up close. The lesson is about timing: the week after a hyped store item goes tradable is usually the most expensive week to buy it.
6–12. The budget shelf
Playmaker AK47, $8.05 (20 listings). A white body with orange and red trim; one of the most visible AKs in the game, for players who don't mind being seen. Demonic AK47, $5.67 (12). Charcoal metal with tan wrapped grips and small red accents, a quiet rifle that suits darker clothing sets; supply is thin, so watch the spread.
Military Camo AK47, $1.85 (80). Green woodland camo on a worn rifle, the best two-dollar AK and among the best-supplied. Fish AK, $1.80 (45). Olive-green scale pattern with a wooden handguard, a joke skin that happens to blend into grass. Last Phoenix, $1.35 (39). A dark rifle with one red flame motif on the receiver, a low-key look with a flash of colour.
Jaws AK47, $1.12 (33). Grey metal with light-blue shark decals; fun up close, conspicuous in the snow biome. Golden Drake AK47, $0.97 (26). A red stock and an orange-gold dragon across the receiver. It's the cheapest of the twelve picks and one of the loudest.
Visibility and camouflage at range
Most AK fights in Rust happen between twenty and eighty metres, and a skin that's striking in the inventory can turn into a coloured blur at that range. Three things decide what an opponent actually sees: overall brightness, the strongest single colour, and whether that colour matches the ground you fight on. Dark, low-contrast skins such as the Glory, Demonic and Last Phoenix stay close to the default rifle's silhouette. White or pale skins such as the Playmaker and Victoria catch the eye against dark rock and forest but blend into snow. Saturated reds and golds such as the Golden Drake and Alien Red stand out almost everywhere.
Facepunch's Workshop guidance for artists asks that items "look dirty and worn" and steer clear of "highly colourful, even glowing items." It's a style rule, not a stealth rule, but the worn, muted skins it produces are also the ones that hide best. No skin changes the gun's stats: damage, recoil, spread and sound are identical whether you hold a $258 Glory or a $0.97 Golden Drake.
Price history of the top five
Steam's market pages carry each item's full sale history. Read on 20 Oct 2026, the yearly medians tell two different stories: store items that started near $2 and became collector pieces, and one famous skin that began expensive and now sells below its store price.
Against what each cost in the item store, the gap is wider still. Four of the five now sell far above their store price; the Tempered sells below it.
None of this is a forecast. Rust skin prices rest on supply that stopped growing when each item left the store, and on how many players want the look; nothing guarantees a collector market keeps paying. Buy the skin because you want to use it.
Where to buy for less
Steam's lowest listing already includes the 15% fee: 5% for Steam and 10% for the game. A seller asking $258.12 on Steam receives roughly $224, so the same Glory often lists for less off Steam. For the expensive picks, check Skinport and DMarket, both of which list Rust items; compare their checkout total, fees included, with the Steam ask. For quick swaps of cheaper skins, Tradeit trades Rust items directly; its fees vary, so compare the final price against Steam.
Two rules apply everywhere. Check the 30-day median before you pay a lowest ask on anything with fewer than twenty listings. And if a skin is in this week's item store, buy it there at the store price: every pick here has left the store, but new AKs keep arriving. Our most expensive Rust skins list puts the Glory among Rust's priciest items.
Edge cases
Twitch-drop and event AKs aren't on this list because they can't be traded or listed on Steam, so they have no market price to print. Console AK skins sit in a separate inventory with no market at all. Skins bought in the item store can't be traded or listed for at least seven days, which is why a new store item's first Steam sale lands about a week after release. And Steam caps a single listing at $1,800, which matters for Rust's priciest items but for no AK here.
